Can someone please explain to me why after installing a new radio and high torque starter I should see continuity between the green and red connecting tabs inside my fuse box? I’m connecting my multimeter probes to the reds and greens on the same side of the fuse box, of course. If it matters, my radio power wire is connected directly to post A1 of the voltage regulator. I can move it back to the fuse box, but I think there was a reason to connect directly to the voltage regulator. I’ll look into that, too, but this continuity thing stumps me.
 
There are a lot of paths between those two points, even if all the switches are off. There is a low-resistance path from the red side to chassis ground, through a number of lamps. Then, on the white side, there is a path to ground through the generator lamp and generator, and maybe through the coil (if the points happen to be closed) to ground as well. So it's no great surprise to me that you see some continuity between them.
