HI a better arrangement might be an uprated puller fan replacing the one on the engine and a shroud. Check with British Car Specialties.--Keoke AZ :cowboy:
 
I had overheating problems for years. Finally discovered my radiator core was plugged with a claylike substance in about 1/3rd of the core tubes. I had it replaced with the same 3 rows deep core but with 14 fins per inch (at least 3 more than stock. I also installed a 6 bladed stainless steel fan from British Car Specialists with their shroud. I also put in a British Car Specialists sliding thermostat. All of this keeps my temp at about 175 (with a 160 thermostat) on hot days. Long idles in traffic approaches 190, but nothing higher.

I think an electric fan would be a mistake. Some have complained about the noise of the 6 blade fan, but I don't mind it at all with all the other exhaust noise etc. to drown it out.

I did all of the things above except replacing the radiator core without much effect. The core was the main problem, but I'm sure everything helps.
 
I am in the Sacramento area so needless to say, it can get flat out too hot to drive the Healey. I have the BCS stainless fan and I did mount an oil cooler with a thermo-bypass valve. The cooler is mounted just behind the grille and in-front of the radiator. Even on a 105 degree day I've never seen more than 195 (and yes the gage is accurate and I had my stock radiator cleaned at a radiator shop during my rebuild). I suspect it would go a bit higher if I got into real stop and go driving, but where I live it is pretty much just go and go driving. I get uncomfortable long before the engine does.
