RIGHT NOW! (about 9:45 EST-USA)

Go outside and look high in the southern sky!

Cool!

Re: Eclipe!

Just went outside - too many clouds in north Alabama...but it sure is dark outside!

Re: Eclipe!

Clouds here too! Guess I'll have to wait for 2010.

Re: Eclipe!

I take it back - I just had enough break in the clouds to see it for a few seconds. Meanwhile my better half in NYC had the whole family standing outside doing OHHHHs and AWWWWs. Dang!

That makes two I've seen as an adult. Last night's was "casually" viewed, we had spotty clouds. Good view tho. I photographed a prior one for the monthly community paper we published. '94, IIRC.

I seen a solar eclipse when I was in 6th grade.... and this is my first lunar eclipse... I kind of happened upon it by accident and thought I was looking at a new moon, until I went outside several hours later and saw the moon was full... it made me somewhat belated excited... lol

meh... ya weren't askeert th' devil wuz takin' it away? /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smirk.gif

I t was clear as a bell here last night. The eclipse was cool, but what made it cooler was the unusual looking formation of stars around it as it peaked at 10 pm. looked like some scfi channel thing.

The star above it and to the right was the star Regulus.

The shiney thing to the upper left of it was the ringed planet, Saturn.

The weather was semi foggy here on the left coast around the time but it slipped my mind anyway until about an hour after totality. Went out to see a half moon for a bit. Went back in to watch Universe on the History Channel to learn about some constellations. Now I know for sure I have been looking at Orion's belt and I know exactly where Betelgeuse is.

I have pics that I'll upload after basil gets done upgrading today.
