I inspected the Bugeye in this listing today. If anyone is interested I will give details.

Nice starter car from the looks of it.

What did you see?

Car looks to be very original. The original red vinyl behind the seat and in the boot area is in amazing good condition. Rockers appear solid. Footwells need replacing. Probably both floorpans as they felt weak under the seats. No other rust except a little surface. A couple of small dents where the rear bumperettes have been hit. Also dents behind each of the rear wheel wells. Bumperettes were not dented. Engine compartment looked to be complete but rather oily. Horns were non original. Bonnet looks to be solid. Most of the rubber parts are in need of replacement. Windscreen rubber is shot. Original starter knob and cable has been replaced by a push button. Ignition switch appeared to be non-original type. Old English White with red trim appears to be the original combination. All in all a good restoration candidate if the price is right.

Boy I guess, kinda wish I had been able to start with something like that.

I bought a similar 59 Bugeye in Knoxville last week (former ebay listing number 150044786391) I bought it as a local sale. Same color combo as the one in Knoxville currently listed. The one I bought is one of the best examples of an unmolested car I've seen. Body is sound everywhere. No rust, dents, dings anywhere. 99% original. The car was purchased from the second owner in Huntsville Alabama in 1973, driven to Knoxville and dry stored for the last 33 years. The owner had intended to do a full restoration in the late 70s. He purchased lots of new parts BMC, Lucas, Smiths, etc. but never got around to the restoration. Instead he got interested in Crosleys and restored several of those. I've inventoried the NOS parts that came with the car. They total about $2000 current retail value. Original engine and transmission, carbs, generator and distributor were refurbished and rebuilt. Howard's Machine Shop in Huntsville did the engine and transmission rebuild. I belive they were big in NASCAR racing in the mid 70s. My intend is to put this one back to as close to original show room condition as possible.
