There is an absolute shiny fright pig on ebay right now.TR3A BRG/tan, one day to go and already in the midteens.Plenty of pix but totally misrepresented. He's counting on stupidty to sell this car,and he is right. He has the gaul to brag about his honesty and forthrightness.I have come to the decision at this time in my life that these type of people should be discredited and exposed as the shams they are.I am willing to do it and I am willing to take the heat.I am also willing to let them throw the first punch.

Me thinks maybe you should stop spending so much time on Ebay if it causes you that much grief. Life is just too short.

eBay is the 'Flea Market' of today. "Caveat Emptor" (sp?) I believe explains it best...or.."a fool and his money.." etc, etc, etc,

I agree with you BOX...false advertising is offensive and should be penalized, but eBay does little to dissuade this practice and complaining does little to those eBay sellers that sell large ticket items regularly.

Just my $0.02 worth

Box you need to stay off ebay. Most those guys on there are the classic sleezy used car salesmen.

true... but it is hardly a car that has "never been touched" except for a paint job.

the "hardly used for it's age leather interior" is not original... at all... no way...

Correct me if I'm wrong but I thought all the dashes were black regardless of interior trim.

And it looks to me like the replacement door covers don't have pockets.

Seat belts are from the 70's - Adjustable steering wheel cannot be orginal - if it were it would have more cracks than wheel.

Yes. it's a fine, straight car.

but it is hardly a 20,000 original mile "unmolested" car.

OK... closer look at the big picture shows that the steering wheel IS cracked. I stand corrected on that point.

It just isn't as cracked as MY original steering wheel /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Good for you! As a notary I council keeping a wary eye on what small price your hearts desire can appear to have on Ebay-but really anywhere. More people should take the time to point out the flaws. Some guy was selling a knock off gas cap for an MG? It was for the wheel-he did not know/when pointed it out he changed his listing. The facts are there are people out there that have no idea & maybe you are saving them alot of grief/Randi

steve99,your quite possibly right, but I have a vested interest,I have been doing this more or less for 30+years.I found this car because I was told about it.I get this a lot. From a potential customer or a "friend" who wants to use some ebay car to as a bargaining chip to discount my car that I may be offering. If it is a fair comparison..fine but when I have to compete against a hyperbolic Ebay BSer and an idiot ebay shopper who believes, and can't tell the difference,or just a friend who wants to question how I arrived at my price, well I start to come ungluded.I am not going to spend anymore time on that car except to say its BS for that money.By the way amongst other things, the idiot seller has the back seat in BACKWARDS.The guys a pro.

I believe it's just the middle section where the small gauges are that is black in all the TR3s. The rest of the dash color follows the rest of the interior. And that car has the black middle section.

At least that's how I've seen them.

Good luck to the 'winning bidder'. Looks like a lot of non-original bits and assorted fixes for a car with a claimed <20K miles on the clock. Also can't say I like the look of those sills.

At least the seller provided lots of detailed pictures... would have probably been better to have said much less and let the photos speak for themselves.

First.. Go up to Favorites / Bookmarks, depending on your choice of server.
Second.. Scan down and find EBAY
Third.. Right Click
Forth.. Click Delete
Fifth.. Click OK, you want to permanently DELETE EBAY.

Good luck.

Box is right the center dash is incorrect, if you look closely at the dash it is covered with Vinyl (I believe that TR2's had this type of covering. The choke is not on the dash it's under the glove box. The side head lamp is where the choke should be. One thing I can say about the person or company that has the car on E-bay, that is the most pictures that I thing I've ever seen for a TR3 on E-Bay. I say he's not trying to hide anything, there are high resolution pix.

Some other observations. I suspect that the headlamp rims are wrong; this one probably should have the wide rims. I suspect the front apron is a replacement, with the very late "smooth" letters (oh, and the bottom edge of that apron doesn't look too promising). Carbs appear to be from an older TR3 or 3A ("banjo-bolt" type of fittings on the fuel line to float bowls). Bonnet appears to be from a pre-TS60000 car, as it doesn't seem to have the "raised base" under the hinge. No TRIUMPH script badge on the rear apron.

I'm sure there's other details...that may or may not be all that important to a potential buyer. That depends on how much a stickler one is for either "originality" or "correctness" (which I tend to me). All in all, it seems like a decent-looking car that merits close scrutiny by anyone wanting to purchase it (doesn't really look "bent" anywhere, but I'd want to check it thoroughly based on what I mentioned above about replacement panels)...and it certainly merits either much less verbiage from the seller or at least somewhat more, uh, honest verbiage. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

Well after reading everybody's evaluation, I had to look for myself. And either that front end has had extensive metal and putty work or its a fiberglass replacement. At least they give you plenty of angles to look from. What's missing is the subtle dip/curve between the TRIUMPH letters and the upper lip at the top of the grill. When that really gets wrinkled it's an extremely difficult curve to return to normal. Most shops take the easy route and flatten it across like this one. Or it could be one of the bad glass repros of past years.
