Early Two Piece Dash

I am restoring a 56 BN2, but I am using an early two piece dash just for the gee whiz factor. Has anyone installed a two piece dash in the 100? What did you use for the insulating material between the instrument pod and the dash itself?
 
Though it it not the correct I believe most use the rubber between the over rider to bumper. It can be purchased from the usual suspects.
