In our house whenever there was an argument about what to watch either I or one of my siblings would regularly take the knob off the TV to hide it

I miss the sounds of the “click” from those mechanical tuners.

I remember an old cartoon:

Mother has a coin, says to child: "Heads we watch Lawrence Welk, tails we watch Disneyland, and if it lands on its edge, your father can watch the fights."

I thought that was why you had kids -
so you had someone to change channels
when the remote was broken,or lost.

We kids used to argue about whose turn it was to change the channel. Sometimes were were ten minutes into the next show before some gave in and got out of the chair to walk across the room. Those were the days.

We were lucky then, Lawrence Welk was on at 5PM Sunday Night Disney was 6 PM (couldn't wait for Lawrence Welk to be over) and then it was praying Disney was a cartoon and not an animal documentary. :ROFLMAO: (which just made Mutual of Omaha's Wild Kingdom jump into my head)

Friday night was always fight night, possibly a national emergency might have changed that, but I would have my doubts! We had people over I never knew. The guys watching the fights and the ladies playing cards in another room. We were one of only two people on our road that had a TV. :thumbsup2:

Paul - we had the first color TV in the south part of Fort Worth. Neighbors we'd hadn't seen in years would magically arrive just before the peacock spread his colorful feathers, or Your Hit Parade came on. RCA model CT-100.

The two knobs on the side were Convergence and Focus.
