Early BN1 Sidescreens

If I can manage to do this correctly, here's a picture from Eureka 2003.

This is the best pic I could find. Strangly enough, my first BN2 in 1959 had a set of the fixed screens with it. They were actually pretty good but hard to get to the door latch. They have a metal channel on the bottom & front edges. Top & back bare Perspex.

Edit;
Hi Sharon, I like your pic better.

I've been slightly surprised that no one has yet reproduced these sidescreens. They are, in my opinion, absolutely the best-looking of all the various sidescreens produced for any model of Austin-Healey.

By the way, I have two original, NOS pairs of the Perspex used in this type sidescreen, and have been waiting for someone to make some reproduction frames -- unfortunately it hasn't happened yet.

Yeah, but you actually had a pair - cool! By the way, all the parts are here - won't be long now! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/driving.gif

Thanks Healygal and Dave Russell, dont suppose you have some detail on the insert between the perspex and the frame?, and the dimensions/composition of the material between the door and the windscreen?
Editor Reid, I am just about finished copying my old frames
in brass section ready to be chromed. Have one original perspex to copy, (well 90% of it!)will make the curved bit fit the cloth top!, about an inch overlap from memory

The front & bottom had rubber flaps to seal.

You might go here & look around. Whole lot of rubber moulding & gasket shapes:

My original Perspex screens were curved full length. Since the front was curved to fit the windshield posts, they just continued the curve to the back. Since the window opening at the back was not curved, it left an interesting gap/vent at the back. Actually the "gap" was needed to allow you to reach in to operate the inside door latch handle. Provided some ventilation also.
