E type restoration

Dear Jag lovers

I am now in a process of restoring a S2 1969 E type roadster. I will soon start to reassemble the car. I will appreciate allot if
you could direct me to a book or publication that gives step by step assailing instructions, (what to do in front of, and in the correct order)
I saw the TV program "A car is borne" but the CD which I acquired is incomplete and dose not cover all details of the reconstruction of the car.

Thanks and regards
Benny

It's going to depend on how detailed you want to go. There's nothing that gets really fine detail, it's all in general terms. In addition to what's listed I would recommend a softback book that Practical Classics magazine put out a couple years ago covering the restoration if a series one fhc they did. Lots of pictures and you get a good idea what they did when. Should be orderable through any bookstore.

Sorry it took a couple of days to get back to you on this, I got caught up in some things at work.

You should look for two things. Jaguar World put out one called Jaguar E type restoration. It covers a series 1 roadster and a series 3 coupe. ISBN is 1 873098 52 9.

Another is Practicl Classica & Car Restorer, E-Type Jaguar Restoration. It's ISBN is 1873098 03 0.
Both are from Kelsey Publishing Limited. You can get the nut and bolt stuff from the shop manuals and the sense of what to do when from these. Good Luck.

Hi Benny,

the XKE is a very straight forward car to work on. My advice is to take lots and lots of detailed photos. When you think you've taken enough, take some more! If you have a Digital camera, brilliant. I used to work for Lynx Motors the Jaguar specialists in the UK and we filmed eveything.
My website can show you general stuff, and we will be showing detailed work in the next batch of movies but you will probably want to start stripping out before they are ready.
Take a look at www.car-restoring.com for any useful bits.
You'll find the Forum a great place to call for help!
