Anyone tried Duplicolor's paint sold in the spray paint sections at part's stores? It doesn't need mixing and is ready to spray. Comes in 1 quart size in red white blue black silver primer and clear.

I use their Dark Canyon Red on MGB engine parts. It's very durable and smooth.

I tried their self etching primer and found that even though it bonds very well, it does get a bit dusty. I'm not sure why but I've had the same problem with Rustoleum Industrial primer.

I tried their trim spray paint and absolutely hated it. I even used their special trim primer before I sprayed the black trim paint.

FWIW, re: etching primer - although I HATE napa - the etching primer they sell for $6-ish a can is darn good stuff. Not sure who makes it.

Seymour makes a pretty good line of primer & industrial paints ala' rattle can, I've heard.....

If you are trying to match a finish color on a body, some pro paint shops can match the color of your car with a handheld scanner doo-hickey, mix some paint and put it in a rattle can for you.

I agree!! That primer is probably the best I have found in a puff-can...almost as good as pro-spray-gun primer in quality and application. BTW, I have found most primers to be "dusty", that is why a good tack-cloth wiping down before painting is a must!! Anyway, one should sand any primer before applying paint for a nice smooth finish!! /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/wink.gif

Thanks for the feedback. I forgot that I posted this thread. I needed some black paint for my Alfa hardtop but remembered later that I've got leftover black from my pickup truck.
Bought my first can of thier etching primer but need to finish my last can of SEM. Sure is a lot cheaper.

I like the look of paintscratch.com. When it comes time to respray my engine bay, I may give them a try with the tartan red in a rattle can. I'm going to swing by Napa tomorrow to pick up some primer for my heater box that I am working on now.

It is great when you can find tips on stuff you didn't even know you were looking for.
