Dumb Question?

So I started pulling my 62 apart...

Been off the road for a while and it needs LOTS of work.

I have put a few hours in stripping her down, but I hit a brick wall when I got to the front quartpanel.

It seems to be hanging in by one (or more?) bolts towards the door/firewall end. It's loose towards the front and I have taken out one bolt that was into the firwall under that corner area... but its still hanging on. How do I get it off??

Im sure its a stupid question... please help!

Luke, there is a bolt accessed through the kick panel on the side of the footwell, and one down at the bottom of the wing, forward of the door opening. It's been awhhile since I removed one, but I remember those two specifically.
Jeff

ahhhhhh... cheers Jeff! I shall get to it in the morning :]

Luke, if you have a Bentley manual, the attachment points for the front wings are shown. I believe both of the bolts I mentioned are accessed from the footwell. One high and to the rear, and the other low and further forward.

I just took my fenders off my '78 Midget for a bit of preventative care...should be the same set-up as a '62 I believe.
Each fender:
Two bolts in the front under the grille, three bolts accessed from the side of the footwell along the door/under the dash and one more from further forward next to the pedals approximately, then one more accessed from the engine side, stick your hand into the space behind the fender from above and you should feel it(not see it) a few inches down on the firewall.
This plus the obvious bolt clearly visible under the rear corner of the bonnet.
Hope '78 and '62 are the same and that this helps. /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif

Now Jeff, calm down, relax. The fun is in the discovery.

Jack, I've got a '63 here that I need to get the fenders off anyway. But, I think I'll just chill for the rest of the day.
Jeff

I got off the one thats hidden on the firewall, all the ones towards the front and the top corner one.

It had me puzzled for a while... then again I was probly just frustrated because it took me 30+mins to get one down the very front, under the radiator that was welded together with rust...

my poor goddam spine! :p and im only 17...

Very soon 41, but after a good hour spent on one of the bolts at the front..the same one Lukeee battled with?...I feel considerably older. /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif

Ha, hope you all feel the same at 68. I have to put cushing on the floor to kneel and peak under.

Well you have 20 on me Jack, but I carry a roll of half inch closed cell foam padding in the boot. It does me no good to put any part of my body in direct contact with the pavement other than my shoes. There are plenty of times I just feel the need to take a look under, having the padding there just makes it all that much easier.
