I drove my BJ7 a bit over the weekend. With 40 plus year old weather checked tires I didn't go far or fast but it was still fun!

I'm working on heat and air vents. Probably a bilge blower in the air vent/driver's side, and maybe a chevy motor to replace the Smiths heater motor. That's an electric motor not a V8...for you nasty boy guys.:excitement:

Also looking at upholstery and base/clear paint. I sprayed the chassis with 2 part urethane. Tough stuff. I'm now wresting a little with which base/clear to use for the body. Glasurit and PPG Deltron are on the list but are they really worth the price? I've read a little about Matrix but it isn't available in upstate NY, aka the middle of no place. I'm not sure that I need show car clear coat. I want the paint to be nicer that original but I'm going to drive it not show it. Thoughts?

Good job Dale! I'm right behind you...got my BJ7 running, but still sorting out float bowl levels and carb jet needle issues. Plan to have the brakes and clutch bled this week, and maybe even drive mine this weekend if the weather cooperates. Sorry I can't help you with your paint questions, as mine was painted several years ago by a very talented guy in Yakima, Washington, and I can't remember what paint he used. (Hopefully I can entice him to come to Missoula to help me hang all the body panels later this spring.) I do know that it has a clear coat applied.

Good to hear Griz. Keep it going!

Dale, I don't wish to hijack your thread but I drove my beast today! Our parallel paths continue.

Excellent Griz! I may "finish" mine six years ahead of schedule.

I need to down load them from my iPhone and then figure out how to post them. PM me your phone number and I can text them to you in the meantime.
