There ought to be one heck of a bunch of used race car engine parts out there someplace for 948s and 1297s. Wonder where they hide?

What's a 1297?

I think most the race parts are worn out by the time they become "available". A friend of mine reports that stock grind cranks for 948s command top dollar when they can be found.

Ahhh, a 1297 is a tipo.

and a tipo was made by Alfa a Tipo Russo 1938-1940 with a 1297 /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/devilgrin.gif

Didn't know Alfa was building 'em that far back... 1297 was around the Magna Carta era, huh?

A Tipo 33 was at my old dealership for a while... doezzat count? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/devilgrin.gif

1297 cc Doc, I was merely teasing, because I couldn't resist it. hehehe....

But... but...

I thought it was a reference to "1297 A.D."!!!

...Magna Carta, Issigons Mini... They all sound th' same to me now...

...yeah, sure!

Well, you are correct that the 948 race spares will be popping up due to some rule changes in the SCCA. The Spridgets that race in the SCCA that are full prep, meaning full prep engines and full prep suspension are now allowed to go the "limited prep" 1275 engine and race in HP, this is a rule change I personally worked on since the invention of Limited Prep specs. What all this means is guys currently racing full prep 948s in H production and full prep 1275 in FP production can go to LP engine and now race in HP with thier coil over cars, with a weight penalty for the full prep suspension. So this means certain items will be not as desired as they have been in the past, most of this stuff will be of no use for a street car owner, High compression heads, wild high lift cams, high compression pistons, dry sump pieces, thru-bored carbs etc, but this good be good news for the vintage racers. Some parts might be worth having for a street car if your budget will stand it like, billet cranks, Carrillo rods, but at 50 cents on the dollar these parts will still be high.

I just recived a bunch of 948 and 1098 small journal engine cores, blocks, rod sets, engine plates, crank shaft, anyone want any of it, I'll sell it cheap, the more you buy the cheaper it gets.

Bugeye58 has them all in a storage shed in Michigan. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Jeff's attempt at cornering the market could backfire on him: the Hunt brothers tried that with silver a while back and look what happened! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/jester.gif

Yes Doc but we are talking about something of real value here. Spridget Parts not worthless silver. I say we stage a raid!!!!
