ive been doing a little research, hence the reason for my absence lately......
it appears that the prefered drink for men age 21 to 75 is beer! haha my point being......i bought a "Mr Beer" machine
and , next week will be starting a batch of Chocolate covered cherry lager, and a batch of Caramel hard apple cider! the lager wont be done till July!
i was really just wandering if any of you boozers have tried making ur own brew? im pretty excited about it....zimmmy

MR BEER

yes used to make it all the time. Not in the mr beer machine but in the primary and secondary carboy wethod. I made 60 bottles of beer at one time. It keeps in a cold storage for about 8 -9 months,,, yeah right like beer lasts that long!!!
Only problem I had was that if I did not like what I brewed I had to figure out how to get rid of it, and If I did like it it was gone before the next batch was ready. Mine took 5- 6 weeks from start to being ready to drink. So 60 bottles although alot might not last that long. I also found cause it was also always availabe and cheap I drank way to much. Going to the store actually stops one from drinking too much. You should also know that here in Ontario Canada, we pay about $37 (including deposit for a case of 24 bottles of regular beer. Premium beers cost more, and there are still a few beers that go for $1 / btl. but they are not that good. At $37 for a case vs a 26 oz btl of good Canadian Club whiskey costs $30 or less, so why not drink that.?

Woodie, same here. I brewed up a Celtic Red and a Brown Ale for my buddy's St. Patty's Day Party. I LOVE homebrewing!

I have a 6 gallon Mr. Beer I picked up at a garage sale for $5. Everyone got Afro Duck Ale and Shell Knock Bock from me this Christmas. A drunk time was had by all.

i wont have all my equipment till monday.....just that many more days to wait for a cold one! not to mention its the perfect brewing temperature this week! doh
maybe we should start a club and do some tradin..zimmmy

I've been brewing on and off for the last 6 years or so. Brewed all the beer for my wedding 5 years ago. Haven't brewed in some time, but I'll get back to it soon. Nothing like having a keg of good brew on tap!

I stared with a Mr. Beer too. It's a fun hobby, and tasty too!

We started brewing our own beer in college. Had it down to a fine art....there were five of us and we brewed on a five week rotation...I started one week, someone else picke dit up week 2 etc. On week six, we broke out a batch. It was actually a lot of fun and one never knew what to expect from the next batch. We were all biology majors and into experimentation so of course there were some strange batches. The only rule was you had to finish one batch before we could tap into another. (I learned how to play quarters real well then too..but I guess that's off topic isn't it) /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/cheers.gif
