Drive line snap

I have a late Spitfire drive shaft that has a CV joint. Is it possible to rebuild it so I don't have a metallic snap when starting or and shifting gears? Wouldn't ou know we want to drive the car in the Brit-Euro Auto Tour and this leaves little time to get the car in order. T.T.

Finally, the car is on the road tonight. When I removed the left side axle, one bearing cup had nothing in it but some powder and a few bits of needle bearings. That would make noise i think. When the jack stand were supporting the vertical links, the right axle was bouncing around as if it were bent. I found another axle, replaced that u-joint installed the axle and it didn't bounce at all. So the car will be ready for the Phoenix-Flagstaff drive the week after easter. Any body else driving to Flagstaff then?

T.T.
