You do know the heater switch cable can be replaced with a generic cable from any dealer.

Sort of, though it has a turn switch as well as the cable pull. I have my original switch still, but the electronic part is not working right now--and a PO cut the cable. I can probably refurbish it some day, it's not a huge priority. Just figured I put it out there that I'm looking for one.

yeah ... i have two cables, each one has something different broken on it. figured i'd try to make one good one. hard to believe this cable is NA. there must be another source other than our vb/moss's.

There is no source for these that I know off.

Look at the back of the switch the cable sheld slides into a fitting, the cable goes through and is fitted with a small swedged fitting on the end, the knob can be turned a bit to show the opening where the swedged fiting can be lifted out, cut it off and remove all.

Get an old time choke cable, the one with the stiff wire cable, from AutoZone or other likely store, cut the pull end off so you only have cable and sheld. Insert cable into the switch and bend a very small loop on the end to hold it, slide cable sheld over the cable.

Fit for length and so forth, dought if you will need a six footer.

Oh yea, take the electrical switch apart and clean well.

i think in most cases, the switch part of the cable is beat up and needs some TLC. both of mine are rough at best. they both have porblems where the knob attaches as well. probably why i don't have the knob anymore.
.
i emailed a guy in england. perhaps he can help. i also know a guy in new jersey that might have some stock. i'll update as i find out.

Recently I recieved info as to where to locate used parts for Brittish cars. This is supposed to be one of the largest {nothing but} brittish car salvage yards in the U.S.A. It is located in Palmyra New York. The owners name is Mark {he is originaly from Utah}. I have spoken with him about parts for my TR-3. He seemed confident that he would have the parts I need so desperately, although he did state that he would have to wait until the snow let up a bit before he could go look for me. In any case, if you would like to contact him here is the info.
Give him a call at 1-800-458-4575, ask for Mark.

Mark is a super nice, super laid back guy and he has helped me find a bunch of the stuff that I was looking for--remember all my emails to this group about original BE knobs, original BE seat rails, etc, etc? That's where I ended up finding them (although the knobs ended up not being good enough quality--he did happily take them back though)...

He also does new/rebuilt stuff as well--found Triplex glass from him, as well as a perfectly restored wiper motor.

Contact info for Mark at British Auto in NY

Thanks for that contact info. Always good to have a source.

I did figure that I could eventually fix the switch I have. I don't have a heater yet anyways, so it's not high on the list. That'll come eventually, other more pressing things to work on first.
