TR4/4A DR3A Wiper Motor Park Setting

I installed a rebuilt wiper motor in my TR4A and it keeps running after I shut the wipers off at the dash switch. I assume that the problem is in the park setting. When I read the shop manual, I found a section on the initial set up. I guess that I am just a little slow, but I do not understand the procedure. Does anyone have a simple method for setting the park function?

Thanks,

Rich

On first blush it sounds as if the switch to break contact to power is not working. That is internal to the motor's gear case. At the "skinny" end is a set of contacts, made to open at a position for the "park" point. If the motor runs continuously after you turn off the switch, that ~most likely~ is where the problem is. Only way to be sure is to remove the cover plate and see if the contact is physically opening at some point in the cable's movement to full extension.

Thanks, I did a bit more today and found that I could get the motor to park. The problem is that it parked on the wrong side. I tried rotating the dome 180 degrees and that helped. It still parks in the middle of the arc. Moving the dome now does not seem to change anything.

If it parks now, remove and adjust the wiper arms' positions on the wheel boxes to be in their parked position on the windshield. Just be sure which direction they're moving when they park.

Thanks for the replies.
