DR2 Wiper Motor Sweep Gear Removal

The c clip on the bottom of the wiper transmission has been removed. With it's removal, the gear can be moved up and down aprox. 1/2 " but still can't be removed. I am afraid to place any additional upward force to remove it. What am I overlooking? Gerry
