Wedge Doubling down on the TR8 - 4.0 heads and more...

Well - I guess I'm really committed now, or ready to be committed, depending upon your POV.

I dropped the TR8 off to have the new 4.0 heads installed. She currently has a 4.0 block and 3.5 heads, which come to find out is a no-no when it comes to power. (bought it that way). The shop owner was joking that I could have been running her peanut oil at this point the compression is so low....

Also taking this as an opportunity to find out why the compression numbers are so variable given the low miles after rebuild, and why I'm seeing what appears to be oil blowby. I'm expecting to need at least a couple new rings.

Keep your fingers crossed for me that it isn't worse....

Fingers crossed; no photos?? :frown:

Tom, we all thank you for chipping in to help the economy.... For your sake, hopefully you don't chip on too much! Good luck! I'm curious what shop you're using to do the work for you....

Hi guys - no pictiures yet. I'll grab some on Monday. Hope that Spit is proving to be fun Scott!

Kevin - I'm using a place here in town that does a great business in older Range Rovers called West Coast Rovers. They know these motors inside and out and they got all excited when I brought the car by.

Eddie, the owner, is a good guy.

Ah yes.....another right of passage for a Triumph owner.

The infamous "I'm only taking in for this ------------" project. Yes indeed, I know it quite well myself.

Sweet music to every shop owners ears....
