I'm sure this won't surprise you because it was at Summit Point......at our EMRA 4-Hour a few years ago, a <u>cow</u> wandered onto the track during the event.
Ever since then, our tech stickers for this event are black and white (like cows) and some of our flaggers bring an "udder flag". All pretty funny!

Last year at Summit, one of the Spec-Miatas hit a wild turkey which went though the windshield. He pitted, they pulled out the dead bird, cleaned up the glass and kept going.
I hit a sparrow at Summit and even that was a shock (my windshield didn't break)....I can't imagine hitting a turkey.
 
While racing at Portland International Raceway (ORE.),
going down the short backstraight,I noticed a pheasant
falling from the sky."Weird"- I thought.
Upon returning to the infield,I learned that one of the other competitors had hit it.I just happened to be there for
the "return trip".

This year at the PVGP just after T-9 I noticed a deer walking across the track (I was working 11A)

I called for a waving & debris at T-9...
I had some trouble explaining my request.

Now we could go on & on about what type of critter gets a waving and what gets just a surface.


Curiously enough...A corner worker on the track only gets a waving.

Somewhere on Stefan Vapaa's site (https://www.at-speed.com) there is footage shot from his Helmet cam during a PVGP where he gets a bird-hit and as a result goes off-track.
 
years ago we took Bob Smiley to Bridgehampton to break in his new Sports-2000 and he hit a deer going into Millstone turn. It came over the front and caught him in the head! put him in a coma for a few days and buggered the car pretty good
