Door won't open

Greetings.
I installed a new interior opener on the driver's side door the other day, and everything worked fine initially. Unfortunately, the door eventually decided to stop cooperating and now will not open. The link between the latch and the handle is solid and functioning, but for some reason the latch is not responding. Also, the outside lock feels very mushy when I try the key, as if the lock mechanism is not engaging.
Any ideas?

sounds like the point where it connects near the door latch has separated. Pull cap rail and panel off and you should be able to see what's going on. Pretty simple stuff in there. Just needs to all hook together. If there isn't a moisture barrier (read "sheet of plastic with cutout for door opener mechanism) between the panel and the door the would be good idea to put one in and glue it down with some silicone glue or something.
