Door Switch

My 74 has not had a working door switch for a few years. I am trying to remember which one of the two designs is correct. I am referring to a 74. One design has one connection that just runs up to light. The other desgin has two connections on the switch, one to the light and one to GND. Which is correct? And if the single wire is correct how does the switch get grounded when the door is open.

Just making improvements to the car while waiting for snowmobiling season to start. I have owned the car for almost 30 years. Just trying to make the car correct. Thanks.

Not sure which - my '76 is the two connection. However, my passenger side is the one connection. It's grounded through the screw that holds it in place.

Next you guys are going to tell me door switches turn on the overhead lights.

No Jack but the drivers side does have a buzzer.

Yeah! and we got door handles too

and the internet I know I know - and windows that wind up and seat belts and negative ground and alternators

yes. Those annoying modern things, heaven forbid, such as working lights and wipers.
