can anybody supply a picture showing the door rocker panel in relationship to the door hinge panel? I need to position this rockerand door to get the door shut panel installed thanks, Everything was eaten away by rust, and have no idea how it should look. Thanks, Bob (stinky60)

Hi Bob,
This is the only shot I have of that area.

Hi Johnny,

The triangular brace (for the shut panel) that you see in the second photo was replaced. The small rocker extension just behind this brace was also changed on one side. The rest of the sill and rocker sheetmetal is original. My panel beater (very experienced) was of the opinion that drivetrain in or out did not matter .. just important to keep all 4 wheels on the ground during any work. BUT .. I didn't have any major surgery being done to my car and it's is an almost rust free California car.

Randy Forbes made a fixture to hold the door opening rigid during outrigger/sill/rocker replacement. You should be able to find his pictures/description by searching or giving him a shout.

edit: I found the thread I was thinking of:
frame sag thread

Cheers,
John

Thanks, to all of your responses, I do have the engine and transmissioin still in place. the tires are sitting on blocks, I,ve done all of my welding and fitting of my sheet metal pieces this way. The floor pans were in remarkable good shape. the inner sill on the driver side, had two bad sections, the very front and the very back.So rather than replacing the whole part Ijust cut out the bad parts, and replaced.. the,the drivers side, is done other than the rocker on the bottom, everything lines up good. The passenger side is another story,I've replaced the whole inner seal, but while doing this, taken measurement with each step I took,I,m up to the point of welding a section of the door shut panel, but need to position the rocker in the correct, place.Bottom line, the front of rocker onthe bottom has a gap about 1/2 inch the top mates okay with hinge panel,so I'm really concerned, if I'm going to haveto do some major cutting on the rocker,I bought the rockers from healey Surgeons a few years back.I will post some pics on saturday.

Thanks,John, those pics really put myself at ease,I always thought the rockers were butted up to the hinge panel, I have some work to do on the rockers. I do have some pics to attach. I'm not exactly sure how to post pictures here, never done it, I'm on the preview page but just can't get it how do you attach pictures? it's the little things that get me

Bob, on the reply page, at the bottom, select "File Manager". Then you can attach what you want. If the attachment is 50K or below, it will display as an image in the post. Above 50K, it is listed as an attachment.
Jeff

Bob, as mentioned, you must be on the reply page to attach pictures (look for the File Manager post option near the bottom). You can't attach pictures on the preview page. And if you have problems with a post .. for example, the picture doesn't show because it's too big then you can go back in and edit or delete the post. Eventually, you will get it right!

I'm gonna try this again, last night, had my computer wizard wife try this, we were on the reply page.could'nt get it to do any thing once we hit the done adding part.I will get this, eventully. please bear with me. stinky.I get on to the file manager, it says I have no file for this post. I click the browse the pictures show up. Then I click add file, and then click done adding files, then I click preview, nothing happens. What am I doing wrong.I have to learn this because this is the best and only site that gives me the help and knowledge to keep my passion alive.Without this site I'm nothing. Thanks John, I will keep on trying, all you guys and girls are wonderfull.

Bob, after doing all of that, (and it appears that you've done it all correctly,) hit "submit" and see what happens. I can't get it to preview a picture either, but when I submit the post it shows up.
Jeff

Hi Bob,
Maybe we can do this graphically to help find what’sa goin’ wrong.
On the reply page type your message.
Then click on File Manager under Post Options.
3996-1.jpg

Chick the browse button and navigate to the folder (or desktop) where your photo is.
3997-2.jpg

Double click it to choose it.
Click Add File, you should now see your file listed, click Done Adding Files.
3998-3.jpg

This will take you back to the post screen. Note where it says (Total Files: 1)
At this point you can click Submit and you post should appear with an attachment at the bottom.

Thanks,Greg, let me try it again. So far I done everything you said, the only problem now is the total files is still at 0.I'm not giving up.some how its just not letting the file in,Idone it about ten times.

Hi Bob,
The only other thing I can think of is your file size is too big. With the new forum, I resize my photos to 8" wide at 72 DPI, or said another way, 576 pixels wide. Then when I save the file in jpg (not bmp or jpeg) I have to compress the file down a bit.

Greg, you are right, John Loftus has been trying to help me out,It just didn'''''t dawn on me the files were too big, thanks to all for help. stinky(bob)here come da pictures .

Bob, Glad to see you figured it out. If you want, you can post somewhat larger pictures. Here's the one you sent me resized to the dimensions Greg gives above.

BTW, it looks like the top surface of the rocker is angled too much. Should be closer to level.
