Door Rattle

Hi All!

May have been discussed before.....

I had a slight rattle in both of my doors when I closed them.

I found and cured the rattle. The spot where it was rattling was between the front window rail (vent post rail) and the door pull rod (not sure if correct name?).

Even with the felt lining on the pull rod, it still rattled. To cure it, I simply slid some of the felt forward, bunching it up in the area between the rail and rod. Not sure if I'll make this the perm solution? Would have to tape the one end of the felt to keep it from sliding back. Also, over time, it may rub through in this "bunched up" area.

Anyone else have any ideas, solutions?

Thanks,
Bob

Bob, I have a BJ7 in my shop with the door innards exposed so I'll look. Thanks for the heads up on the rattle or I may have put it back together with a rattle. As long as the bar slides past ok as not to bind the handle . The whole area seems too flexible doesn't it? Kevin

Hi Bob,

I had a similar situation with my BJ8P1. When I closed the door, something would vibrate or rattle and it took multiple incursions to determine where and what was vibrating. It turned out to be caused by a slightly loose connection between the door latch and the rod connected to the inside handle. Additionally, this rod would also vibrate against the vertical bar you identified. The cure I quickly employed was a self-sticking piece of Velcro (that just happened to be sitting on my bench) attached to the vertical support.

Seems to be still working.

All the best,
Ray (64BJ8P1)
