Door locks - How do they come off?

I can somewhat see how to but can't get to the tabs. Is there a secret or a tool?

On an MGB? I usually get a set of pliers to release that little black clip that's inside the door...when its out of its groove, the lock slides off from the outside by pushing from the inside

Sometimes you have to take a screwdriver & bend the little black clips outward so they fall off the lock into the door itself..then the fun is reshaping the little suckers

Anyone have experience with those "door lock locating kits" sold by Moss and others? They re supposed to make it easy to remove and reinstall, plus keep the lock assembly from rotating in the hole.

So those little tabs come out of the door lock?

The little black ones connected to the ring around the lock body? Yes.

Ahhh. I gotta play with it then. I thought you had to compress them and then push it through. If you remove the tabs, it makes sense.

Some people compress them & push through - for me, its easier to pop them off from the inside

But, install the new locks with them in place & compressed.
