Door Latch Adjustment

Bill I'm glad it's starting to make sense. I apologize if I didn't seem to take into account any frustration you may be having. Welcome to the club! For me it's a learn as I go and when I can't seem to grasp what folks are explaining to me, I beat myself up. I may be saying this phrase wrong...no one needs to beat up a perfectionist, he's doing that to himself just fine. Did I say that right? Why can't I remember those sayings? If you're going to say a phrase, make sure you say it correctly. You're an idiot. See how that works, lol.

The window regulator unit has the arm attached as a unit. The arm has a roller that slide in the Regulator to channel bracket. Being your window frame is black (as factory) and your Regulator to channel bracket is silver (factory was black) I may assume this was replaced. If so, it should have been put back in the same place. Compare to the drivers side; if that one is spot welded and black, it'll be in the correct place. We'll assume you have the factory window regulators, so when you get the china/tiwan reproduction from Moss, compare them to make sure the arm is the same length. (Spoiler alert, the replacement window regulator I received from moss, the 4 screw threads...wait for it....were metric.) I brought the window regulator to the hardware store, and bought 4 metric bolts because they didn't have metric screws.

Make sure the Regulator to channel bracket and that the roller on the window regulator arm glides smoothly. If not the arm may need a little bend. It's already bent, but the way these cars are, once you attach the window regulator, it may change how it lines up going into the regulator channel. Some sort of tweaking may be needed. Confirm the new window regulator gears have grease and grease the regulator bracket.

Once the window regulator is in place and you've make all the adjustments with the window tracks, the stop bracket, the felt edge strip is on, the door waist molding with the rubber strip is on and you can roll the window up/down easily (with one hand, not 2 like some require) the last step and I think the most important of all is to, stand back, take a good look at what you've done... take your right hand and tap your left shoulder a couple times and say good job!

Cheers
