On the BJ8 the inner weather strip( felt type) the clips attach to the strip and then are pushed down over the top of the door lip, every time I try this the seal falls out of its clips as they are not designed to defy gravity, am I installing incorrectly. I have tried to make the clip tighter for the strip but the same thing happens, out it pops, Help needed. Saltiga

HI Saltiga, Try holding the strip against the doors mounting edge then tapping the clips down over both at the same time. See Photos.

Seems a poor design as the clips cut the paint off down to bare metal. When I stripped my car for restoration, the area around the clips was rusted through.

Thanks for the tip, I tried that and on the last one out the seal went I will try tapping evenly with some one to hold it in place, failing that I will put clips on then try to slip seal up onto the catches , thanks for the photo as it shows that at least I am fitting it the correct way. Saltiga

I'm wondering if you have the right clips. It's been over a year since I put mine on so memory is not good, but I think that there are different clips that are near the same. You might not have the right ones. If memory serves, that little tang that grabs the chrome edge of the seal holds the seal quite well.

vette, I'm wondering the same thing. I know that I had difficulty removing mine because that tang would not let go.

I think I have the right clips but they maybe of a poor quality. Today I gave it another go and the same thing happened , so I re-bent the holding lug, it bent so easily , giving me the opinion that there is very little tension on them, if they were good quality spring steel the would be much more difficult to reset, I bought the clips from the Healey factory in Melbourne , I will contact them Thanks Saltiga
