Door glass, bottom channel

I have a question about the door glass, the rubber bottom strip, and their fitment into the bottom glass channel. I find the only way to place the glass bottom channel strip into the window regulator is sans glass, too get those two 'spring backed' buttons to go into the bootm channel slot. . Then once in the door frame, place the glass with the rubber strip attached into the bottom channel groove. I find that at the top of the door, the waist seal and fuzzy weather strip place a little too much pressure on the glass and it pulls the glass out of the bottom channel piece when winding the window down.
Will this rubber harden over time, and prevent that from happening?
Is it to be glued?
My old glass is fixed firmly into the bottom channel, I cant see evidence any old glue. The rubber is aged like tile.
Recommendations from the restorationists?

Thanks.
Mike

I'd drop by a glass place - Mine, like yours is firmly attached (still the originals) I presume it is glued somehow

For those of you who have been waiting with eager anticipation the outcome of the door glass 'situation', I find this evening on inspection, that the rubber glass bottom seals, have 'settled' into perfect position, filling the groove in the glass bottom channel. With this perfect fit, on tugging upward on the glass, it is firm and fixed. No more threat of inadvertant dislodgment from cranking the window glass down across the fuzzy weather strip and the outer waist seal (who after all, were only doing their job!). Patience and time seems to be the order of the day.

Down here in sunny Johannesburg

My glass fell out during our spridget tour. On getting home took off door panel, practiced a few up and downs and saw the same problem, rubber had come out of slot. I glued the rubber in with 'no nails' with a hint of glue at the bottom of the glass as well. Left it down overnight with a book or something applying pressure. Next day hey presto.
