Hi guys - was about to put the professionally rebuilt carbs back on the '66 TR4a and thought I had better check the carbs to make sure they are right and sure enough....

The pistons where returning at different speeds and the float levels were off. Please don't read this as a condemnation of professionals (since we have some outstanding one who contribute here) but instead that as people familiar with these cars become fewer we need to make sure we know what is correct and how to check (or do) the work ourselves

Just to second the emotion, few years ago I went to help a club member who had recently had his carbs professionally rebuilt. He was rather upset when I pointed out that the big nuts holding the jets were so loose they were in danger of falling off!
 
Kind of like me finding that the piston on my front carb was jammed after three years. It ran pretty good on two, but it's a lot better on three.
 
I wonder how the 2 affected cylinders handled that Paul.
Would that have created an excessivly lean condition for those 2 guys ?
