Wedge Don - any TR8 Latest[s] for us?

Re: Don - any TR8 up-date[s] for us?

Drove it last weekend to a fellow wedgie, alas he was out of town. Still make the sound.
Have started the preliminary conversation with my engine shop for a 4.0 build just in case.

Well, if nothing else, you had better luck on your weekend drive than I did. At least nothing changed for you.

Another opinion!

Re: Don - any TR8 up-date[s] for us?

Well,,,,I took some advise from a local Wedge owner and drove the car to a shop he swears is an expert.
In the parking lot was a nice looking spit on jacks with the wheels off ,also an old TR4 that had seen a lot better days and behind it and older Spit.

I asked him to listen. He revved it a few times and I asked him if it was a rod.
He said"no Way","Lifter"

Hot dog, he also said my breather system was screwy too and it's a cute little car.
CUTE???.
SO I'm bringing it in next week for a thorough looksie.

Re: Don - any TR8 up-date[s] for us?

Well I changed the oil, again, 3rd time in 3 hundred miles. No filter change this time.
I added the proper amount of the a fore mention MMO (other thread) and bombed around the area and freeways. I think it is quieter ,though, that stuff smells like lighter fluid once it's in the car. Poured a little in the gas tank too.
One thing the mechanic noticed. The idle control adapter was loose and 1 bolt about to fall out. Explains the funky idle.
New bolts and lockwashers and oh boy.

Re: Don - any TR8 up-date[s] for us?

Sounds like you are making progress Don, which I'm sure if helping your spirits.

So next week is the deep dive diagnosis?
