Dog Head Fire

These are some pictures from of the Dog Head Fire. Not sure how big it is right now, but earlier I had heard anywhere from 680 - 1000 acres. Not sure the right number, but it's pretty big.

The second picture is actually a short (1:30) movie clip I took in my front yard. In the video I suggest the fire is 5 or 6 miles from us, but when we drove south on some back roads to get a better view, I realized it is probably more like 20 mile from us!

Big Sky Country. In CT, you can't see more that 100 feet unless you're on a hilltop of near the shore. Too many trees.

We've got the Pony Fire burning now - 2,300 acres.
Hopefully this year won't be like last year. When I drove to Virginia
last September, there was smoke almost all the way to Kansas.

Hope you turn out OK; I clicked on the link thinking Dog Head Fire was a new kind of craft beer.

16,000+ acres now and no containment. It would appear to be going in a northeasterly direction. If that is correct the boss and I are not in peril. The small town of Chilili Is under a mandatory evacuation. This is a very dangerous fire. We've lived here 20 years and this is the closest to a fire we have been. It's about 20 miles away.

Yikes fires like that are scary, could be a long summer. I've a lot of respect for the firefighters that go in and do a nasty, life threatening job. We were in the same Washington campground with some last year. They came in late, soot covered and dragging and left early, soot covered with pep in their step. No campfire for them.

All is well and fire contained. Not all fared well. No life casualties but property loss. Haven't heard what the cause was except that it was human start. Many of us are breathing easier. Good friends had two classics in our garagemajal and Miata covered and parked in middle drive. Also had some personal items in the little house prepped to stay for as long as needed. We did not anticipate any fire damage threat. We were quite safe.

Nice to breath again and not have burning eyes!

Pleased to hear you guys survived.
