Does Rover export "cars" to US?

I know we have the Land Rover, etc., but does Rover export regular passenger cars to USA?

Keoke, I thought they were producing the Rover 75 and 45 as well as the City Rover right up to the end.

Bas - I think Rover did not take the time or expense of getting their cars certified for the US and therefor they did not export to the US.

nope. The last Rover would have been the SD1. They sold a homemarke Rover as the Stering in the mid 80s. It was mostly a re-packaged Acura Legend though. I believe Mexico got the recent MGs though.

Rover did sell in the UK until the end.

The last Rover car sales in North America were the SD1 series, the 3500 model, between 1980 and 1981.

As well as the aforementioned Sterling 825 and 827, they were sold between about 1987 and 1992. They look very close to the Acura, and they are essentially based on it. But I'm told there are a number of significant differences. But then the Sterling was based on the Rover 800-series as sold in England/Europe, which in turn was based largely on the Honda/Acura design. Yes James you are right...........The Sterling was the last badged Rover sold in the US.......It had the Acura Legend engine and was built on the same platform.........Some later Rover 45's and City Rovers made it too Mexico also....The Rover 75 was thought to be their US hopeful but as the company spiralled into receivership AGAIN this was disbanded as too costly to have certified......Too bad since this was a good car worthy of the once great Rover name

Agreed......rather a pity actually, as the 75 was based on BMW's wonderful 5-series, and as such would have been approved without modifications. The MGF would have been a winner here, as evidenced by the Miata.

Its still possible the US might get British built (if not British owned) ROvers and MGs from the UK

I'm still on the fence as to production restarting in the UK but remain hopeful this will happen...Lets hope the Chinese do better at running the show than previous regimes........Their whole labour mentality must change over there to be successful at anything.......As for the US receiving the cars that would be well into the future if at all
