I don't actually know a thing about Jeep pickups from that era, but I understand that they are a very tough truck and are generally well regarded amongst the 4x4 crowd
I have yet to see it - about 4 hours away.
Something about it being "out of the ordinary"
that has my interest.I also like the looks of it-
-it looks like a truck, not an overgrown car.
One guy I know, who used to work at a parts store
said "don't do it".I still want a second,or third,or..
... opinion.
Being in your area of the country they may be OK. Here in the salt capitol they disappeared in short order due to some of the worst rust issues of any vehicle ever sold.
Mechanically, they're brutes. very stout in that respect, but it's like the bodies and frames were dipped in "Super rust" compound or somthing.
VERY rare to see one around here. and if you do, It usually has a homemade wooden bed.
JMHO, Mechanically, they're comparable to an anvil, very tough
to beat. Appearance wish, they do tend to rust, but they arent
too tough to fix, a bit of 16 gage sheet, you're back in business...
As others have said, their as tough as nails. They remind me somewhat of the old Dodge Power Wagon in miniture. BUT, their like buying an MGB, check the body rust situation very carefully. It could cost quite a bit to repair and then, they will continue to rust. Rust never sleeps! You can coat every part on the truck as thick as you want, but they rust where the panels are welded together. If it's very quiet, I can set and listen to my CJ-7 self destructing and it's been restored twice.
Nah, the only thing that blew away was a 40yo Fir tree,
but it didn't even hit the house, the only cars outside
are my $300 '74 Capri, and the '86 F150...
I talked with my neighbor last night, no power then, but
the winds had calmed to the mid 20s... Which is better than
the 80+mph of Sunday night...
