Does a 100 Six with no heater have demister vents?

We have owned our Abingdon built and Australian delivered 100 Six for 34 years and we are now giving it a major spruce up. Australian cars were delivered with no heater and this is noted on the heritage certificate. When we bought the car all those years ago the dash top trim had no demister vents fitted but it was a replacement trim. In all the spare parts that came with the car there was a set of dash vents.

I have always wondered whether a car without a heater would have had demister vents fitted as a matter of common parts. I think Abingdon would have been reluctant to keep two types of dash tops in inventory in all the different colours but then........?

Does anyone know the answer to this?
Regards

My 100 is to Australian specification (no heater) and it has demisters vents, but this model does not have the dash top trim. Good question because all the restoration guides originate in countries with colder climates.

I saw just such a car at Silverstone about 4 years ago. It was very original. Attached is a photo of the heater blanking plate. You will see the vents on the top of the dashboard however I am pretty sure I remember that these were not real vents and had no slits for air to flow through.

What about the duct from the grill area? We're there two fresh air intakes?

There is a vent behind the grill on the left hand side (RHD car) which feeds via a tube to the left hand foot well. Operated by a knob on the blanking plate as per Derek's photo below.

Thanks Derek, mine has the same heater blanking plate and fresh air knob. Your feeling that the slits were not cut in the dash top would seem a bit strange as this would have meant they had to keep two inventories of dash tops again. There is a member of our club who has a very untouched unrestored 100 Six so a phone call to him may be helpful. I will report back.
