I think they were used on some 72 Bs. Not sure why but the needles are ABDs and in the 493 carb they were AUDs. The only differance I can find is the ABDs are aprox. 1/8th inch shorter but the taper seems to be the same. Would this be for more high speed fuel flow? Would the ABD be a rich mixture needle? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/crazyeyes.gif PJ

Joe Curto is the man who could answer that question...but, somebody changed them for a reason - what's the altitude where they came from?

Good question Tony. I bought the car from New Jersey which is close to sea level. I bought it as a parts car as it was wrecked, from a repair shop. I don't know where it originated from. What I'm realy curious about is, the needles in the carbs that were on it, (434s), are aprox 1/8th of an inch shorter than the ones in my carbs,(493s) and I would like to know why. How do I contact Joe Curto? PJ

Thanks Scott!
