My internet provider decided to turn off my internet last night at 11:45... It's related to us moving our home phone to a different carrier than Time warner...
I just wanted to let you know I wasen't mad or anything... I was havin fun chattin' in the shed....
Hopefully I'll be back tonight...

I "got my wings" back in th' 14500 baud modem days. Used to seein' folks get bounced.

You're excused, Ben.

Doc's a forgiving sort....he won't be mad. He MIGHT move the Shed and not tell ya where he put it, but he won't be mad! LoL

Doc, My first modem was a 9500. That's where I learned to be very patient.

You guys are kids. My first "teleprocessing" installation used a 110 bps (baud) modem with a teletype at each end. My first computer-based installation included 300 bps modems as well as "high speed" 1200 and 2400 baud modems. At that time, 1200 was as high as dial-up could reliably go and we used "leased lines" for anything faster.

And the horses were prettier then, and the women faster, and the men stronger, and all that....

Went and picked it up in your brand new Model A I bet.... and it overloaded the springs....hehehehehehehe

Dang John, you must be about as old as I am. When I first went to work for the "Big National Time Sharing Company" being the new kid, I got the protable terminal. It was a large suitcase with a Teletype 33 inside and a 110 baud acoustic coupler that I had to cary separately because the Teletype filled the case.
