Do I really need a zipper?

I'm purchasing a new top. There is a zip out window option. Do I really need a zip out window? Couldn't I just let the top down? Does anyone here really use a zip out window? Do they ever leak? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif

A zip out window lets you drive in the shade with lots of ventalation. Sure wish I had had one on my old car.

I'm going to buy a new top with the zip-out rear window. It seems to be about a $30 option if I remember correctly. Just like jlaird said, it lets you drive with a lot of ventilation in the shade. Maybe you don't have time to drop the top but still want some fresh air...

I know it would've been great back in Hawaii. Top up to keep the afternoon Manoa rainshowers off of you, but enough airflow to let the tradewinds in.

I found it particularly good for blisteringly hot days (not here in Scotland I'm very sorry to say) when having the top up provided shade and I wanted a little more air too. Made mid-day summer driving a lot more enjoyable.

Yep, zipper window is great. They should all come with one. Hot days they are the way to go. Top up window down. No cooler way to go. cept in the winter, then it's top down side curtains or windows up.
