DIY-Roller-Throw-Out-Bearing

Rolling throw out bearing after market kits used to be available but are not any more. I think that is probably because of the points made in the discussion. Modern TO bearings run on a spigot that eliminates the sliding that our carbon bearings have to live with.
Having said that I would be the first to say that the modern replacement carbon bearings are not as good as the old ones!
Lets all complain to suppliers and hope for the best or come up with a spigot and TO arm that will make the rollers work.

Peter May Engineering offers one for sale. People have made these, the trick is to find the right size roller bearing. Years ago ,we used 914 Porsche, they press on a special steel piece made in the lathe , then attached by bolts to the original housing the carbon bearing once was mounted in. In some case the friction button was remvoed from the pressure plate to allow the roller bearing to directly make contact against the pressure plate fingers.
