distrubutor wiring for 1966 BJ8 Cap to plugs

Recently aquired 66 BJ8 Healey suddenly would not start or ran rough and shook the whole car. Removed dist. cap to find brass dust from broken slot tab on rotar It had chewed up the inside of dist. contacts.Ordered new cap and rotor from Moss.Installed cap identical to old Lucas cap as to wiring order. While doing so I tighten one set screw on the first plug wire to far and cracked the new cap slightly.or at least a piece flaked off the top of the new cap Went on with the installation of old plug wires in new cap .Installed new rotar and it started but ran so rough I shut it off.I looked at a picture on line of a 3000 Healey distributor but the wiring of the plugs to the cap is entirely diff. I tried that drawing but now it does not even fire and I do not remember what the original was that ran horribly but at least fired. Are all 3000 healeys wired the same at the dist as far as plug sequence goes. Could the car have jumped time while all the shaking was in progress.Does the dist need to be turned to adj. timming ? I also have a solid state Petronix for the car but did not install. Something about ballast resistor . The pet. was ordered for one without ballast suggested by Moss. The car is Neg ground.Points and cond are still in place.
Any advice as to what the correct wiring is for this dist cap. Pictures on line vary. How do I tell if ballast res. is present? Healey shop manual is worthless.

Help. I have a new petronix flame thrower dist on order just in case. It seems that only one diagram would be correct for the BJ8 dist. cap . or not ?

tks,

Dallas

This depends on how the dizzy is installed in the car. It is possible that the dizzy has been installed 180 degrees out

. To insure that dizzy istallation is done right get a shop manual and follow the 20- to- 2 rule included in there.
