the '60 bt7 wasnt running right so i was adjusting the points when i noticed a section of bare wire coming off where the condensor is attached. i removed the wire and wrapped in electrical tape. unfortunately i think i dropped a screw into the distributor. i am having a heckuva time getting to the base of the distributor to see if the screw is in there. does the cam have to come off before i can get the plates off or do the plates go over the cam? how do you release the plates? already removed the cotter pin and of course snapped that in two. any ideas?
 
Easiest thing to do, would be to loosen the clamp that keeps the distributor from turning (the one you loosen to set the timing) remove the distributor and turn it upside down to shake out the screw.

Put the distributor back in at the same orientation as when you removed it, check the timing, and tighten the clamp again.
