Have oil coming from dizzy shaft. Should there be an o-ring on a 1098cg? Numbers on dizzy are 40919 A 263, Lucas. Moss catelog shows an o ring by the thrust washer at the dog. Haynes and Bently do not. Different distributors I guess. Ideas?

PS
found a 25D hear vacuum canister, that's the model, eh?

O-ring should actually be up near the top of the dizzy shaft housing.

Yes, there's a groove there, should there be an o-ring there then? I tightened the nut that sits under the clamp ring, don't know it's name or purpose but I'm told there's oil behind it. It was tight but I got a bit more out of it.

Yup. Should be an o-ring in that groove.

Can ya post a photo of the block where the diz goes? That "nut" is different than the 1800 MG engines but if it's what I think it is, it holds a sleeve and should have a gasket or o-ring under it as well.

If the dist. is missing an oil ring, I'll size one up at the hardware store. It still leaks, despite having tightened that "nut" -7/16" (I didn't think that was it anyway). Too bad I buttoned it all back up. Oh well. I'm learning new stuff every time. Be nice if that solves that leak, would leave only one, the vent drain tube from the inspection cover.
