we have had to replace a number of appliances over the last while and have ended up with LG every time - I think the price/ reviews/ features sweet spot continues to pay off. Plus they all play tunes when they are finished.

Recently the soap dispenser on the dishwasher quit - In the midst of calling to sort out the repair I realized it was only 2 months out of warranty. To their credit LG is repairing it for free. Supposed to come tomorrow. The repair man calls tonight to explain that the part (which I think is the entire inner door) is not in stock and they have to wait for it to come in.

No problem says I

then the repairman asks - 'do you want me to come anyway?'

Ummmm no.

great service really strange question. :rolleyes:
 
Your post is very timely.... I had the LG service guy to my place today for my dishwasher. If my memory is right I think we bought the same LG dishwasher around the same time. The problem with mine is that the door does not stay closed. During the cycle it will pop open (maybe a 1/4") just enough for the door switch to open and stop the cycle. To their credit they did come out at no charge but the service man is at a loss to fix the problem. LG told him to replace the top rack slides; he's going to order the part but he is not confident that it will fix the problem. The door latch is poor design....period!
I do hope you have better luck with your soap dispenser.

with our last dishwasher we had door popping problems which was I think a combination of the rack not being in enough - and the machine itself not being properly leveled so it was tilting out a bit.
 
Thanks JP... All racks are pushed back all the way. Machine is level. I also recently installed a new latching mechanism which did not make a difference.
I think when all attempted fixes are exhausted by LG I just might box it up and ship it back to them!
 
We have a GE dishwasher that doesn't have an external latch. Never again! It can be a pain to make sure it has closed enough to get the machine to start.
 
Exactly Bob! Our old GE had an external latch. This new LG is a piece of E. coli.
