TR2/3/3A Dirty Little TR3

Hello, listers, I'm currently in the midst of a hydraulic overhaul on my '59 TR3. I've pulled the wiper box and the brake/clutch master cylinder "cage", and I'm left with the dirty, greasy remnants. I've been able to remove most of the grease, et al, w/ Simple Green, but I'm looking for something with a little more "grunt", enough to remove the gunk, but leave what's left of the thin Signal Red paint.
A spray on/wipe off solution would be best for me; I'm kicking myself I didn't go to a Spray degreaser bay before I started. Does anyone have a product recommendation for me t use? Thanks, Kevin 59TRe #58370 /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif

WalMart sells several different brands of grease cleaners in the automotive section. They come in gallon containers, so you'll either have to pour the solution on or buy a plastic spray bottle. I've used several of the brands and they all seem to work good. One is called something like Purple Power. I'd also suggest, using a home powerwasher to clean the solution off, the powerwasher works wonders. Good Luck.

WD40 or some such spray oil will cut much grease and generally leave paint as is. Test first if in doubt... try a bit and if the rag is red as well as dirty then back off.

Carb cleaner will also remove the grease but will take paint too.
