Great Pumpkin - R.I.P

Well, Mickey got up at 3am, got on the road at 5am (after he provided me a wake-up call)..I got on the road at 5:30am & we met at 7am.

Got to the show hotel around 3:30pm..... then we took off for an early dinner at Jacque Imo's on Oak St (TR6Bill's recommendation)...what a way to die! Had a table outside on the street & some of the best food I've had in a long time!!

Up tomorrow morning for the only, light N'Awlins breakfast: at Cafe du Monde & then a day following wives around while they shop - afterwoods, back to hotel in time to clean cars for show Saurday am.

Ah Chicory coffee and some beignets. I'm drooling. I know its a tourist trap but Cafe Du Monde is a must stop when I'm in that town. That and a little place called Petunias which had some crepes that were great and a change of pace from all the gumbo I stuff in usually.

Tony/Mickey: some guys have ALL the fun!! :cryin:

And, there's no please like N'awlins. Especially the food.

Keep us posted, Tony. And send some photos!

Somehow my PB&J is gonna taste a bit pedestrian today. :wall:

Ham sandwiches... again.....
But, I'm hoping for a dealyed installment of corned beef and cabbage tonight.

There used to be a pretty good Irish pub a couple of blocks off of Decatur Street. Wonder if it's still there?!

I saw a car in front of me this AM on the drive to work with Arkansas plates that read "NAWLINS" and thought of you guys.

Dale - "Slap yo Mama"....hehehe...bought some today.

DAY 2

Got up early & drove into town to have beignets & coffee at Cafe du Monde....wandered around the French Quarter picking up some things you can only get there (cooking stuff)...drove over to Magazinne Street & trolled through the antique stores & then over to Frankie & Johnny's for lunch of boiled crawfish, crawfish ettufea (however you spell it), red beans & rice with andouille sausage, some beer, some wine.....spent about 2 hours in restaurant.

Back to hotel to wash & detail car (3 hours!) & then to the club's reception for some great homemade N'Awlins food.

Up tomorrow morn & to the car show.....

Weather in the high 70's with nice wind blowing.

I'm SOOOOooooo jealous!!! My belly is growlin'.

Enjoy every minute, bring back a "Doggy Bag"!!!

There's "children" starvin' in Tampa, y'know... :jester:

Oooops.....forgot the plate of spaghetti & meatballs with Greek bread....

Lemme just say that we went, we saw, we ate!

Me, here. Met Tony for the first time yesterday. When you get up this morning for coffee and log on, "Hi, Tony!"

Uh, he does talk......

.....& he pulled that TR6 right up to my hotel window before my wake-up call & revved the engine for several minutes until I opened the window & waved (.l.) at him!!

Sunny & hot already at 8:30...we're heading to the park...talk tonight!

Mickey's the photo guy....

Good show today, around 120 cars.....mickey took 1st in class, TR6Bill & poolboy did also....think there were some other BCFers who also won.

Me? They put my '87 XJ6 in a class with 2 old MkI's, Mk2,s, S-Types & a 420G....you guess! They called it the Jaguar Vintage & Classic (Post WWII until 1989) Saloon Class!

Oh, well...day was fun with lots of friends & there's tonight's dinner at Drago Seafood Restaurant.

Very neat!!

The B.M.C.N.O. (British Motoring Club of New Orleans) was a great success! Weather was perfect, over 130 cars registered. Mickey and Tony have beautiful cars (although Tony tends to clean his Jag way too much!). Lotsa great cars, some I have never seen before. I could talk forever, unfortunately my camera sucks and the pics were not worth posting. Hope Tony or Mickey will come up with some good shots. A good time was had by all. Only wish I could'a stayed another night and gone out on the town with the guys.

Oh, and I won first in my category again. 6 years. Guess some of you out-of-towners need to show up to give me more competition.

I have one heck-of-a sunburn......

You noticed?

Got some pics today. Will post when we get home Monday night or Tuesday. Just pictures of the cars. Food wasn't on the plate long enough to capture!

Shrimp po-boys tonight. Tomorrow more boiled crawfish, and maybe fried oyster po-boys.

Sufferin' we are, I tell ya!

The show was great, as usual. Perfect weather, and great mix of cars.

More details later... On the "house" computer at the moment, and I hear a glass of wine callin'.
