Differential Upgrade

Has anyone replaced their original differential unit with an aftermarket upgrade? Specifically I'm interested in Goodparts Nissan conversion unit, is anyone running this?

I have one on order. I'll let you know about it when it gets here and I fit it if no-one else posts before then. I know of at least two other people who post here who are running one - their positive comments, coupled with the quality of the other stuff I got from him, were what swayed me to try it rather than go for a straight rebuild or a quaife/salisbury type rebuild.

LastDeadLast - out of interest did you box your diff mounts in when you installed the LSD, or did you just leave it as is?

Alana,

Yes I had a good friend come over to box the front diff mounts in. It took him about 2 hours for the entire job.

Mine were in great shape, they looked almost new, but it never hurts. I drilled a small hole in the "box" and filled it with waterproof insulation foam that I purchased from lowes.

I've had the Goodparts diff in my 71 tr6 now for over a year, and really like it. It was as easy to install as the original, came with all the hardware. I also ordered the new driveshaft. Fit an finish of the adaptor plates is very good.

Compared with the sloppy diff I took out of the car, the Goodparts conversion really tightened things up. It's a very quiet diff.

I autox the car, and this LSD conversion is the missing link to outstanding performance in a TR6. I've got two seasons of local competition now with the LSD and all is well. I'll post a pic of my car.

All said, I would highly recommend this conversion, it's money well spent.

HTH,
Kevin
