Well with all the Craigs list stuff I have been bombarded with Spam and Phishing Schemes.
So I started a new address just for stuff like this so I want to know If I forward the new messages to my real one will it show the forwarded address to the guilty party?

Don - forwarding messages to yourself won't show the other party anything. But if you get the other guy's email forwarded to you, and then reply to the other guy from your new email account, all the email addresses in the previous emails will be shown.

By the way - how'd the "guilty party" ever get your email address from Craigslist? Unless you put your email address in the ad itself, doesn't Craigslist use its own internal email forwarding system?

Tom

Best thing to do is to set up a separate email (use gmail, it's free) for craigslist or similar. I run my own domain, so I've got a bunch of handy throw-away email addresses for such purposes. Just sign up for a new gmail account, use it for the sale and such, then delete the account. Simple.

That's the nice thing about Craigslist... the ability to remain annonymous until you reply. 'Course, this doesn't stop the spammer from bombarding you with "I am pleased to offer you twice your price if you would kindly ship the car to my home in Nigeria - and I will send you a handsome cashier's check. Please to respond."

I once tried to dump a 36" Toshiba TV through Craigslist, just to get rid of it. It was very cheap, but a guy in Europe wanted me to ship this several hundred pound TV.

It's amazing how much the spammers hit Craigslist ads. heck, even the car ads are filled with fakes - "I am being sent to Iraq and will ship you my car for 25% of it's value" (etc.).

I do this. I run several domains and just make new email address and use it for craigs list, odd webs sites that need you to submit a e-mail, etc. About once a quarter I blow it up and start a new one...

I also "lose" my credit card about every 6 months...so I get a new number a drop all the auto repeat charges...
