difference between instal of 1500 radiator in 1275

I have a 1974 MG midget with a 1500 engine (9:1 compression ratio). Need to replace the radiator

The radiator installed is a 1275 radiator (Moss p/n 459-735)
Moss 1275 cross flow radiator

With the 1275 radator crowl would a 1500 (Moss p/n 459-740 )radiator fit?

Anyone know if the 1500 radiator would have better performance than a 1275 radiator (especially paired with a 1500 engine)?

I noticed the 1500 & 1275 crowl P/Ns are different, but that doesn't necessarily mean the 1500 radiator would not fit in the 1275 crowl.

Any thoughts?
 
I don't know about the fit but I am not aware of any advantage of the 1500 rad over the 1275 rad. IIRC, you have the choice between a downflow rad (early cars)and crossflow (later cars) but I don't think there was ever a big cooling advantage of one over the other. When I was doing Ms Triss, (1500) I had a rad shop rebuild the rad. From memory, I think they added another row or some such thing. Between that and having the engine boiled when I was freshening it up and I have never had any heating issues. Having the existng rad recored might be an option too. I believe it cost about the same money as a new one.
