Diff vent

Dudly

Hi All, I know by now my obsession with my differential may be getting old but I have just one more question (Colombo anyone?)

I read somewhere that if you try and wiggle the vent on the diff it may result in the diff receiving proper ventilation, thus decreasing the pressure and stopping fluid weeping past the main seal.

Done and done, played with the vent until it wiggled better, drove the car over the weekend and noticed no more little drips at the main seal area, nor on the sheet of cardboard I lay on the garage floor. (could it have been this simple?)

Question, is there anyway, aside from removing the diff, of clearing that vent even more? Anyone have any tricks?

Thanks for any suggestions.

I think what you've done is pretty much all that is needed. So long as the pin is free to "wiggle" a bit and the area atop and around is kept free of oily debris, it should be fine.

And yeah, sometimes it <span style="font-weight: bold"><span style="font-style: italic">is</span></span> that simple!
