I'm thinking of buying a plastic model kit of a 1959? ford prefect. I want to turn it into a slot car, but I can't find any reference to these cars being raced or rallied or even driven fast! Just one picture of a racing prefect would be great. Maybe they were just too slow. Can anyone help with info? Cheers. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/canpatriot.GIF

Well, frogger, this got me searching. This was my first rallye car in the 60's.Used for Night road events.I managed to find a picture but it won't give you a lot as apart from the lamps,no bumpers and a side exhaust it was standard. Some good memories though.Looks like Dunlop SP 44's on the rear.

I am currently building a 1172 sidevalve Ford. This is the motor that was fitted to the Prefect as well as many "specials" of the same era. The original bhp rating was in the low 30's. I have custom built rods, Shorrock supercharger, after market overdrive many Aquaplane items and tillar extension. Would like to make 70+ bhp. The motor will be fitted in a TVR with a weight around 1200 pounds.
Cheers, David.

I've got a race program from the 1956 McKinleyville -
- Road Races,& in it there's a picture (taken who knows where)of a Ford 100E racing car.I could make a copy,if you
want.
Or,contact Micheal MacSems (North American English Ford-
-Registry) @ IFHP@aol.com.He may have some pictures.
Come to think of it,I have some books on English Fords.
There might be some pictures in there.
If you're interested,call me @ (707)445-3354.
