<span style="color: #000099">Seaplanes are cool!!
The seaplane adventure and week in St Croix was a perfect 60th
birthday gift. ( I hate large parties of any kind)
Some of my friends asked for some details of the plane. It was
a DHC-6 Twin Otter and a blast to fly in. Ten of us left San Juan
and arrived St Croix 5o minutes later. Cruising altitude just
under 8,000 feet. Smooth landing. Fantastic views.
The trip home was even better as a large storm was in the area.
We flew at 700 to 900 feet altitude, the plane bounced around real
good from the high winds. I was second seat back with a clear view of
the instruments. Real interesting watching the doppler radar and
the pilot trying avoid the worst of it. A additional 45 minutes spent
trying to find an opening in the storm to put down in San Juan Harbour.
Here's a real nice web site that shows the plane and some nice shots
of Puerto Rico from the air.
But still, always nice to be home.
Thanks everyone for well wishes on my B-day!
